Laura Boo, also known as DJ Like the Wolf when behind the deck or Douche La Douche when performing drag or burlesque, wears many hats in the POMPe crew. Creator, organizer, promoter, resident DJ, hostess and occasional performer, POMPe is her home base for creative nightlife production in Montréal.

Laura Boo began organizing and DJing at queer dance parties in 2005 in Vancouver, BC as part of the legendary BENT Collective. She also was involved in the running of an indy art space called The Bathroom Gallery. She also became involved in the organizing of Queeruption X, an international festival of anarchist queer politics, art and music which took place on the Sunshine Coast (Coast Salish Territories) in August of 2007.

After moving back to her hometown of Montreal in 2008, she began to make a name for herself with her eclectic mix-tape style at parties such as the Monster Ball, Faggity Ass Fridays, Against the Wall, Nag Nag Nag and Gender Blender. Simultaneously she became involved in radical queer community organizing (Radical Queer Semaine and Pervers/Cité) and the underground cabaret scene (both as an organizer of Cabaret Faux Pas and a performer with Bad Taste Burlesque and Glam Gam Productions).

In January 2011 she launched POMPe, and in so doing brought her mix rad politics, love of community, oddball performance art and commitment to dance floor folly to a larger MTL audience. Since then she’s hosted, promoted, booked visiting artists and/or DJed at innumerable night life events in Montreal including Drama, Trouble, The Dirt Bag Party, Drop Cunt (collab with Effing Effiminate), Cause Célèbre and Night at the Races (collab with GayBash). Recently she has also hit the road and been seen behind the decks at parties in Toronto and Brooklyn.

Currently, aside from her residence at POMPe, she’s also the resident DJ of the 90s monthly Forever XXXI and the travelling sensation No Pants No Problem. In June 2013 Cult Magazine included her in their Top 5 DJs of Montreal.
